Nigeria establishes Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) to unbundle Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) under Electricity Act 2023.
Nigeria's electricity regulator, NERC, has established the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) to unbundle the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), as per the Electricity Act 2023. NISO will assume TCN's market and system operation functions, negotiate ancillary service contracts, and serve market participants and system users. This move aims to improve efficiency and oversight in the power sector.
