A fire suspected to have been caused by a lightning strike caused extensive damage to a home in Watford on May 2. The fire was contained to the roof and rooms at the top of the property, thanks to the quick response of Watford, Garston, and Rickmansworth fire crews. The owner of the property, who heard a loud bang before seeing smoke and their house alarm going off, evacuated the building and called 999.
