India imposes 40% export duty on onions, exempts import duty on desi chana and yellow peas.
India has imposed a 40% export duty on onions, effective from May 4, and exempted import duty on desi chana until March 2025. The government has also extended the duty exemption on imports of yellow peas for shipments with bill of entry issued by October 31, 2024. Currently, onion exports are banned, but shipments to friendly nations like UAE and Bangladesh are allowed under specified quantities.
