San Diego Sector of the U.S. Border Patrol apprehended over 200 Chinese migrants each day on May 1 and 2, exceeding the total number of Chinese migrants encountered throughout FY 2021. The surge in Chinese nationals entering the US illegally has increased from 1,970 in FY 2022 to over 24,200 so far in FY 2023, raising concerns for CBP and ICE about espionage and fentanyl movement.
