The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) confirms the first emerald ash borer (EAB - Agrilus planipennis) detections in British Columbia, Vancouver. This highly destructive insect attacks and kills ash trees, with current presence in six provinces. CFIA has implemented travel restrictions to prevent the spread to non-infested areas, including restrictions on movement of ash materials and firewood starting April 2024.
