Dozens of armed police responded to reports of a person with a gun in central Auckland, but the incident turned out to be a long piece of photographic equipment mistaken for a firearm. The Goodview Apartment Hotel on Hobson Street was the scene of the police operation, but the public was not in danger. A person was arrested at the apartment for an outstanding warrant unrelated to the incident.
