3-time Olympian Emma Coburn breaks ankle, misses U.S. Olympic trials for Paris Olympics.

3-time Olympian Emma Coburn, who won a bronze medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics, has announced she will miss the U.S. Olympic trials for the Paris Olympics after breaking her ankle during the Shanghai Diamond League meet. Coburn initially thought she had only sprained her ankle, but later scans revealed torn ligaments, damaged cartilage, and a fracture. She underwent surgery and plans to start jogging again in six weeks after the screw placement in her ankle, meaning she will be unable to participate in the Olympic Trials.
