Penang High Court upholds corruption charges against Lim Guan Eng, wife, and businesswoman in a separate case from 2018 acquittal.

Penang High Court rejected former Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, his wife Betty Chew, and businesswoman Phang Li Koon's attempts to strike out corruption charges related to a RM11.6 million foreign workers' dormitory project. The court ruled that the charges involved different individuals and were not part of an earlier case where Lim was acquitted in 2018. The accused's legal team will wait for the full grounds of judgment before filing an appeal and applying for a stay of the corruption proceedings pending the appeal.
