The Law Society of BC accuses Vancouver-based tax and trust lawyer Nicholas Smith of Legacy Tax and Trust Lawyers of aiding U.S. stock fraudsters between 2014-2018. Smith allegedly used his firm's trust accounts to receive up to $2.8M CAD and $4.4M USD for clients under investigation for securities fraud in the U.S., without providing substantial legal services or making reasonable inquiries. Smith denies the allegations, stating he acted honestly and in good faith.
