Japan Airlines reports a 2.8-fold increase in annual net profit to 95.53bn yen for fiscal 2023, driven by post-pandemic travel demand.

Japan Airlines (JAL) reports 2.8-fold increase in annual net profit to 95.53bn yen ($614m) for fiscal 2023, driven by post-pandemic travel demand. Sales grew 20.1% to 1.65tn yen, surpassing pre-pandemic levels. The stronger international travel demand and weaker yen contributed to the growth. However, the weak yen also brings drawbacks, including increased fuel costs and aircraft prices. For the current year, JAL expects a 4.7% rise in net profit to 100bn yen on 1.93tn yen sales, up 16.8%.
