Aurora, IL teacher Rachael Mahmood at Georgetown Elementary School has been named Illinois' Teacher of the Year 2024. She's the first in the Indian Prairie School District to receive this honor. Mahmood, who struggled with finding a sense of belonging in school as a child, teaches fifth grade and has been recognized for her dedication to ensuring her students have a great educational experience.
