IATA criticizes Germany's 19% increase in aviation taxes, claiming it weakens the economy, harms decarbonization efforts, and undermines competitiveness in sectors like exports, tourism, and jobs. Effective since May 1, the tax ranges from €15.53 to €70.83 per passenger and could hinder air transport recovery post-pandemic, as well as the industry's goal of reaching net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050.
