French parliament creates a commission of inquiry to probe sexual and gender-based violence in cinema and cultural sectors, following MeToo allegations.
The French parliament has agreed to create a commission of inquiry to probe sexual and gender-based violence in the cinema and other cultural sectors, following several recent allegations. The National Assembly, or lower house, unanimously approved the commission, as demanded by actor Judith Godreche who has become a key figure in France's MeToo movement. The new commission will investigate the condition of minors in various sectors of cinema, television, theatre, fashion, and advertising, as well as the adults working in these industries.
