Columbia man Darren Thames pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and drug distribution for selling fentanyl as Percocet, leading to Emily Karisny's overdose death.
A Columbia man, Darren Thames, has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and distribution of a controlled substance in relation to the overdose death of Emily Karisny in Jefferson City in October 2020. Thames sold Karisny what she believed to be Percocet, but the pills tested positive for fentanyl. Cole County Judge Cotton Walker sentenced Thames to two 10-year sentences, which run concurrently.
