BC Supreme Court approves extradition of ex-Mexican general Eduardo Leon Trauwitz for breach of public trust involving Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex).
A BC Supreme Court ruled that an ex-Mexican general, Eduardo Leon Trauwitz, can be extradited to Mexico to face charges of breach of public trust involving a state-owned energy company, Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex). Trauwitz is alleged to have misused his authority, resulting in billions of dollars of hydrocarbon losses due to compromised security protocols allowing clandestine taps on Pemex's pipelines.
