25 April, a Montana man hunting for antlers fatally shot a female grizzly bear (300lbs, 12 years old) on private land northwest of Wolf Creek, not carrying bear spray. The bear had a cub nearby, captured by Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks and taken to their rehabilitation center. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service is investigating the incident amid increasing spring bear activity.
