65-year-old Lyle Bauer, former Winnipeg Blue Bombers player and CEO, passed away.
Former Winnipeg Blue Bombers player and CEO, Lyle Bauer, has passed away at the age of 65. Bauer played as an offensive lineman with the team from 1982 to 1991 and later served as president and CEO from 2000 to 2009. He was inducted into the Winnipeg Football Club Hall of Fame in 1998 and also founded the Never Alone Cancer Foundation after being diagnosed with throat cancer in 2004. The Blue Bombers reached the Grey Cup twice during Bauer's tenure as CEO (in 2001 and 2007).
