WWF-NZ warns that NZ's environmental law deregulation risks violating the NZ-EU Free Trade Agreement's environmental protection commitment.

WWF New Zealand warns that the government's deregulation of environmental laws to boost exports puts the country's Free Trade Agreement with the EU at risk. The NZ-EU Free Trade Agreement, which comes into effect on 1 May, includes a commitment not to weaken environmental protections for trade. WWF-New Zealand's CEO, Dr Kayla Kingdon-Bebb, states that the government's deregulation actions directly contradict this binding commitment.
