Tánaiste warns students and young people about dangers abroad during the summer months, highlighting farm, road, and water-based accidents, as well as increasing wildfires. Launching the Be Summer Ready campaign, Micheál Martin urges young people to "make the right memories" and be cautious. Last year, the Department of Foreign Affairs provided consular assistance in over 1,700 cases involving Irish citizens of all ages.
