Tesla has reportedly backed off its high-volume gigacasting manufacturing plans due to cost-cutting measures, according to Reuters. The electric vehicle maker has been a leader in gigacasting, a technique that die-casts large sections of a car's underbody. Last year, Tesla aimed to create underbodies in one piece for a new small-vehicle platform. However, the company has since halted this effort and will stick with more conventional methods.
