South Korea's parliament approved legislation mandating a new, independent investigation into the 2022 Halloween crowd crush in Seoul, which killed 159 people. The bill, backed by ruling and opposition parties, will create a fact-finding committee with nine members to examine the disaster for up to 15 months. The committee will determine who is responsible and who should face charges, which will then be reported to government investigation agencies.
