1Q2024: Zimplats invests $789m in capital projects, cost-saving measures reduce operating cash costs, mining volumes increase 9% YoY.

Zimplats Holdings, a Zimbabwe-based platinum group metals miner, invested $789m in Q1 2024 on capital projects including Bimha & Mupani mine development, solar power plant, and refinery refurbishment, as part of $1.8bn expansion program. Despite softer metal pricing, cost-saving measures led to 2% reduction in total operating cash costs. Mining volumes increased by 9% YoY and 6E ounces unit cash cost decreased by 6%.
