Northern Ireland's Attorney General orders new inquest into 1973 killing of Michael Leonard by RUC, prior to UK's Legacy Act.

Northern Ireland's Attorney General, Brenda King, ordered a new inquest into the 1973 killing of 24-year-old Michael Leonard by the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) near the Fermanagh-Donegal border. The decision comes ahead of the UK's Legacy Act, which would have prevented such fresh inquests. The original inquest did not include oral evidence from police officers and new evidence in army logs casts doubt on the RUC's version of events.
