New Zealand's Supreme Court upheld Malcolm Rewa's 2019 conviction for 1992 rape and murder of Susan Burdett.

New Zealand's Supreme Court rejected an appeal by convicted rapist and murderer Malcolm Rewa against his 2019 conviction for the murder and rape of Susan Burdett in 1992. Rewa's lawyers argued for a fair trial, but the court found no risk of a miscarriage of justice. Rewa received a life sentence for Burdett's murder, to be served concurrently with his 22-year preventive detention sentence for previous rapes.
