8.4 million contraband cigarettes were seized by provincial authorities during traffic stops in Brant and Haldimand counties, with a combined estimated tax loss of $2.95 million. The OPP and Ministry of Finance carried out the two-day operation, resulting in charges under the Tobacco Tax Act for two suspects. The seized cigarettes are equivalent to just over 842 cases.
