Microsoft signs largest clean-energy purchase agreement with Brookfield Renewable Partners for 10.5 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity.

Microsoft and Brookfield Asset Management's renewable energy arm have signed a record-breaking clean energy agreement. Microsoft is investing in artificial intelligence and plans to use renewable energy from Brookfield Renewable Partners, starting in 2026. The deal will see Brookfield provide over 10.5 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity in the US and Europe. This is roughly equivalent to the output of 10 nuclear power plants and reflects the rising demand for data center and AI-related electricity. The deal is the largest corporate clean-energy purchase agreement ever announced.
