Jindal Stainless, India's largest stainless-steel maker, is planning a significant expansion of its production capacities by 40% to 4.2 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) within three years, investing ₹5,400 crore. The company plans to acquire a 54% controlling stake in Chromeni Steels Pvt Ltd at Mundra, Gujarat, and invest ₹700 crore in a joint venture for upstream facilities in Indonesia. The expansion also includes an investment of ₹1,900 crore across downstream facilities at Jajpur, Odisha, and ₹1,450 crore for infrastructure improvements there.
