Ford recalls 243,000 Maverick pickup trucks in the US due to a software issue causing the tail lights to not illuminate, potentially increasing the risk of accidents. The issue occurs when a computer system falsely detects excessive current on one or both of the tail lamps, causing them to remain dark during driving. The recall covers select Maverick pickups from 2022 through 2024 model years. Dealers will update software at no cost to owners to fix the problem.
