Czech President Petr Pavel has called for the Czech Republic to adopt the single European currency, Euro, at an international conference. Pavel stated that if the country wants to be in the top league, it is logical to consider accepting the Euro. Four of the five parties in the current government coalition support this initiative, while the largest force in the coalition, the Civic Democratic Party, is cautious and emphasizes the need to preserve the Czech crown.
