Capital Power Corp. has scrapped plans for a $2.4-billion carbon-capture project at its Genesee natural gas-fired power plant in Alberta, citing financial unfeasibility. The company had previously announced that the proposal would annually capture up to 3 million tonnes of emissions from natural-gas units at its Genesee generating station. Capital Power aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045.
