A new report from the Canadian Centre for Caregiving Excellence urges a national strategy recognizing caregivers as the "backbone" of society. The report highlights the mental and financial toll of caregiving and calls for compensation, respite, accessible home care, and workplace policies to support those providing care. Last summer, the centre commissioned an online survey of caregivers, which included about 200 paid care providers, to gather input for the report.
