British Columbia launches a central booking portal to help speed up the process of finding hotel rooms for emergency evacuees. The system, set to launch in June, provides provincial emergency support staff with live information on room availability, eliminating the need to call hotels and allowing for more efficient accounting of evacuees' placements. The pilot program will focus on three host communities in its first year: Kelowna, Kamloops, and Prince George.
