Michigan AG charges 3 residents with human trafficking for forcing Indian woman into unpaid labor.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced human trafficking charges against three residents of Three Rivers, who allegedly forced a 33-year-old Indian woman into labor without pay. The defendants, Ikbahl Singh Machhal, Kartar Chand, and Shila Devi, are charged with one count of Human Trafficking – Forced Labor and one count of Human Trafficking Enterprise, each a 10-year felony. The victim, who came to the US for marriage, was physically, emotionally, and verbally abused while working 8-9-hour shifts without pay in her husband's and in-laws' liquor store.
