Iowa State Auditor Rob Sand proposes removing degree requirements for certain government jobs, citing workforce issues and unnecessary barriers.

Iowa State Auditor Rob Sand has called for the removal of four-year college degree requirements for dozens of state government jobs, and has called for a review of job descriptions by the Department of Administrative Services. He believes that these roles can be filled by individuals with military service, community college education, or on-the-job training. Sand says that a degree requirement can discourage people from applying for jobs, particularly as the state struggles with workforce issues.
