Detroit names poet Jessica Care Moore as new poet laureate, celebrating her as an "authentic voice of Detroit." Moore will organize poetry events, deliver an annual speech at the Detroit Public Library, engage in programs celebrating Detroit's diverse community, and compose a year-end poem. She is a five-time winner of Showtime at the Apollo, CEO of Moore Black Press, and founder of Black Women Rock!
