Premier Inn owner Whitbread is planning to cut around 1,500 jobs in the UK, as part of a strategy to reduce its branded restaurant count by over 200 and expand its hotel rooms by more than 3,500. The company, which owns chains like Brewers Fayre and Beefeater, will sell 126 of its less profitable restaurants, with 21 sales already completed, and convert 112 restaurants into new hotel rooms.
