University of Benin suspends Student Union Government over attack on Labour Party governorship candidate, effective April 29, 2024.
The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has suspended its Student Union Government indefinitely due to an incident involving an attack on the Edo State Labour Party's governorship candidate, Olumide Akpata. The suspension took effect on April 29, 2024, following an investigation into the events that occurred in the Faculty of Law and the University's Senior Staff Club on April 12, 2024. All officers of the students' union are required to hand over their properties to the Dean of Students' Affairs by April 30, 2024.
