A retired Catholic bishop in Mexico who was known for mediating between drug cartels was briefly kidnapped, but was later found and taken to a hospital, according to the Mexican Council of Bishops. Msgr. Salvador Rangel, a bishop emeritus, was reported missing on Saturday and the church called on his captors to release him. The council later announced that Rangel had been located and was in the hospital.
