Nigeria's House of Representatives directs NERC to suspend new electricity tariffs following a motion by Nkemkanma Kama.
Nigeria's House of Representatives has directed the electricity regulatory commission, NERC, to suspend the planned new electricity tariffs, following the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance. The motion was sponsored by Nkemkanma Kama, a Labour Party lawmaker from Enonyi State, after NERC approved an increase in electricity tariffs for certain categories of users on 3rd April. The House has set up a special committee to investigate the power sector and organise a hearing with stakeholders.
