The Land Conservancy of SLO County has conserved 27,512 acres of land in its largest project to date, securing a conservation easement on the Camatta Ranch in eastern San Luis Obispo County. This effort, which took five years and cost $18.4 million, protects the ranchland's diverse ecosystems, including blue oak woodland, grasslands, and chaparral, and safeguards unique animals such as the San Joaquin kit fox.
