For the first time in eight years, Canada imported more electricity from the US than it exported in February due to prolonged drought conditions, which reduced hydroelectric power generation. This resulted in Canada's electricity imports from the US (2.7 million MWh) slightly exceeding exports (2.6 million MWh), with imports 124.1% higher than average for February 2024, and exports 44.8% below average levels for the month.
