9 Colombian soldiers were killed in a helicopter crash in northern Colombia on April 30 while returning from supplying troops engaged in operations against the Gulf Clan, a criminal organization accused of drug trafficking and murders in the country. The helicopter lost communication with the base and was later found to have crashed near the municipality of Santa Rosa, Bolivar Department. President Gustavo Petro expressed his regret over the tragedy on social media.
