Astronomers predict a recurrent nova in T Coronae Borealis, causing a new star to appear in the Northern Crown constellation.
Astronomers predict a new star will appear in the Northern Crown (Corona Borealis) constellation, growing as bright as the North Star before vanishing in days. The celestial event is linked to T Coronae Borealis (T CrB), a stellar system 3,000 light-years away where two stars interact to cause a recurrent nova every 80 years. T CrB last became visible in 1946, and scientists suspect it may happen again.
