U.S. lawmakers reach a deal to enhance air traffic controller staffing and funding, but not raise pilot retirement age.
U.S. lawmakers reached a deal to enhance air traffic controller staffing and funding to prevent runway close-call incidents, but will not raise the airline pilot retirement age from 65 to 67. The House of Representatives had previously approved a bill to raise the retirement age, but the Senate rejected the measure. The agreement temporarily extends the FAA's authorization while a new $105bn, five-year deal is finalized.
