Saudi Arabia, aiming to diversify its economy, is committed to sourcing lithium from overseas to produce EV batteries and invest in the electric vehicle sector. Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef explained that lithium is essential for battery supply chains and domestic supply attempts are at an early stage. The country has explored extracting lithium from sea water and oil field discharges in partnership with Aramco.
