Lagos State Ministry enforces reclaiming System 1 Drainage Channel in Ojota and Ogudu due to property owners building on designated areas.

Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources has initiated enforcement to reclaim System 1 Drainage Channel midstream in Ojota and Ogudu, as property owners continue to build on designated drainage areas despite warnings. The 1974-established channel aims to alleviate flooding in major parts of Lagos mainland, including Ogudu, Ojota, Ifako, Gbagada, and Maryland. The ministry has served contravention notices to building owners since 2021.
