Japan's top currency diplomat Masato Kanda declined to comment on Monday when asked if Japanese authorities intervened in the currency market to support the yen. Kanda, the vice finance minister for international affairs, stated "I won't comment now" when questioned about market views suggesting currency intervention led to a 5 yen spike against the dollar in Asian trading.
