The European Commission has designated Apple's iPadOS as a "gatekeeper" under the bloc's landmark tech rules, meaning the operating system will be subject to the provisions of the Digital Markets Act (DMA). This law aims to regulate tech companies for fair competition and protect the openness of digital services. As a result, Apple has six months to ensure its tablet ecosystem complies with a range of preemptive measures under the DMA.
