Environmentalist Teresa Vicente, professor of philosophy of law at the University of Murcia, has won the Goldman Environmental Prize (the 'Green Nobel') for her activism in securing legal rights for Europe's largest saltwater lagoon, Mar Menor. Vicente's grassroots campaign led to a new law in 2022, granting the lagoon legal rights to conservation, protection, and damage remediation, protecting it from pollution and ecological collapse.
