Accra High Court dismisses MP's application to compel President to consider passed anti-gay bill.
The Accra High Court dismissed an application by MP Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor to compel Ghana's President Nana Akufo-Addo to consider the anti-gay bill passed by Parliament. The court exercised discretionary powers to dismiss the mandamus application, stating other related cases had a direct bearing on Dafeamekpor's application. The anti-gay legislation, which criminalizes LGBTQ activities, passed in Parliament on February 28, 2024.
